About ScannBite
A cooking and food-label companion built for real kitchens, real budgets and real allergies.
What the app does
ScannBite brings the everyday food jobs into one place: scanning a product label or barcode to understand what is really in it, generating recipes from the ingredients you already have, cooking to a set budget, building meals around a weight goal, checking a restaurant dish before you order, and tracking what you have eaten across the day.
There is also a generate by budget option — tell us what you want to cook, how many people you are feeding and what you can spend, and you get a recipe plus a shopping list priced across supermarkets, cheapest first. If you have set a weight goal, you can add a simple home exercise plan with step-by-step walkthroughs to support it.
Everything is tuned to the profile you set up — your calorie and macro targets, your allergies, the cuisines and flavours you like, and the country and language you are cooking in. You can also choose the units and currency you think in — kilograms, pounds or stones, centimetres, metres or feet and inches — and how safe portions are described to you, whether that is grams, spoons, or everyday wording like "about half a bar".
Why we built it
Food labels are written for regulators, not shoppers. Recipe sites assume you have a full pantry. And if you or someone you cook for has an allergy, every shop turns into a label-reading exercise. ScannBite was built to shorten all three of those jobs.
How it works
Label and barcode scans are read on your device camera and interpreted by an AI model, then graded with a simple traffic-light view. Recipes are generated the same way, then checked against the allergies saved on your profile. Your scans, recipes and intake history are stored to your own account so your dashboard builds up over time.
Guidance, not a guarantee
Allergy flags, nutrition estimates and gradings are guidance to help you decide faster — they are not a medical or safety guarantee. Always confirm against the product label or with staff before eating something you react to. See our allergy & nutrition disclaimer.
Shopping links and commission
When the app suggests where to buy your ingredients, some of those links are affiliate links, and where a partner programme supports it we may earn a commission or pass cashback and voucher offers on to you. It never adds anything to the price you pay, and it never changes a grading, an allergy warning or a cheaper-swap suggestion — those come from the product data and your profile alone.
Where we are right now
ScannBite is in a free trial phase. Early users are trying it out and telling us what works, and we are still adding and refining features. The app is free to use, and some areas will change as we go.
Talk to us
